Being Who You Are

Recently, a dear friend reached out to me in despair. I wrote them this note. Feel free to share these words with the people in your life who are struggling. Feel free to let these words sink into your own heart and soul too, as we all will someday face lonely moments in life. “My heart is heavy to know that you are walking this tumultuous path. Still, I believe that the road to healing sometimes passes through some very dark places. Through all of this, I hope you can remember what a bright light you have been to me and so many people. Perhaps the greatest challenge in life is to really come to know your goodness. Seeing, embracing, and remembering your goodness is the greatest challenge in the spiritual life for so many of us. In these heavy and dark moments, remember that you have brought such joy to so many people in ways that you will never know. You are loved and cherished not just for what you have done, but even more for simply being who you are. May your mantra each day be: “I have enough. I do enough. I am enough.” These are the truest words that I’ve ever known. May they be true for you today and every day. You are not alone. So many of us are breathing with you and walking with you. Hold these words close. Reread them often. Let them sink into every cell. Let them heal you from the inside out. Trust in your goodness.”
