Never forget that justice is what love
looks like in public.
– Cornell West

Last week, Derek Chauvin was found guilty for the murder of George Floyd. The guilty verdict holds this officer accountable for his actions, and we pray that this brings some solace and peace to the Floyd family.  We are hopeful that this accountability is the beginning of justice for all human life, especially Black and brown lives. We want to acknowledge and emphasize that this does not solve the systemic problem of police brutality and legal lynching. We urge everyone in our community to take compassionate action that keeps the arc of the moral universe bending toward justice.

This is a time to re-ground ourselves in mindfulness practice and to further commit to the lifelong journey of advocating for those most impacted by systems of oppression, especially anti-Blackness. Let us continue to cultivate mindful awareness and compassionate action to transform our hearts and the world until we can celebrate true liberation for all beings. Join our community at Copper Beech Institute as we cultivate boundless hearts in service to the world.

Boundless Heart Intention

With a boundless heart,

May I cherish all living beings:

Radiating kindness over the entire world.

May I be a guard for those without protection,

A guide for those who journey on the road;

And a lamp for those who long for light;

For all who need help, may I be a servant.

For every single thing that lives,

May I be their nourishment

Until they pass beyond the

bounds of suffering into freedom.
